This is my First blog …ok, Today I want to talk about something that is on everyone's mind lately: AGI.

For those who might not know, AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence. Unlike the AI we have today, which is really good at specific tasks like writing an email or generating a picture, AGI would be an AI that is as smart, or even smarter, than a human being at almost everything.

I think a lot of people are scared about what this means. But from how I see it, we don't need to panic. We just need to change how we prepare for the future. Here is what I think you absolutely must know before AGI fully arrives.

1. The Real Danger Isn't Losing Jobs; It's Losing Our Minds

When people talk about AGI, they usually talk about robots taking over jobs. But I think there is a much bigger, hidden danger: we might lose our ability to think.

Let me give you an example. Imagine you want to get physically fit, so you decide to run a mile every day. But instead of running, you get into your car and drive that mile. Sure, you completed the mile, and you did it much faster! But did you get any exercise? No. Your muscles will actually get weaker over time.

Figure 1: Mental strength over time when you rely on AI versus doing the work yourself.

Using AI to do all your homework, write all your emails, or solve all your problems is exactly like driving that car. AGI will be a massive shortcut. But if we let it do all our heavy lifting, our brains will get lazy. To survive in an AGI world, we have to keep challenging ourselves with complex problems, just to keep our mental muscles strong.

2. We Need to Stop "Doing" and Start "Directing"

For the longest time, the goal of education and work was to learn how to do the task. You learned how to write the essay, solve the math equation, or write the code.

When AGI arrives, it will do those base tasks perfectly. So, what is our role?

I think our role shifts from being the "calculator" to being the "director." Instead of just doing the homework, we need to learn how to grade the homework. We need the ability to look at what the AGI produces, understand it, check it for errors, and synthesize those ideas into something entirely new.

Here is a simple way I like to look at it:

The Old Way (Pre-AGI) The New Way (AGI Era)
Memorizing facts Connecting different ideas together
Writing the first draft Editing and refining the AI's draft
Trying to be the smartest Trying to be the most creative
Following instructions Giving the best instructions

3. Human Connection is Your Superpower

If AGI has a perfect IQ (Intelligence Quotient), then what makes us special? I think the answer is EQ (Emotional Quotient).

We are humans, and we will always crave human connection. Think about music. We have perfect studio recordings of songs that have been auto-tuned to sound flawless. Yet, people still pay hundreds of dollars to go to live concerts. Why? Because we want the live, raw, human experience. We want to see someone sweating, smiling, and connecting with the crowd.
